”I am very excited to participate in the BigData Finance project and to work on developing tools for market mood identification”
Ever since I participated in a school organized stock market day in the 8th grade I became captivated by the financial markets. Thus after I have finished my Bachelor’s degree in Statistics at Vilnius University I have started my carrier in finance as junior analyst in a portfolio management company. At the same time I set my eyes on the CFA program.
After obtaining my CFA charter I have started working as a portfolio manager where I was responsible for two mutual funds and private portfolios. During this period my focus began to shift from a fundamental analysis approach to a quantitative approach. At this point I was responsible for developing and implementing new rule-based strategies for the portfolios.
As passive investments become ever more popular and the regulatory oversight is getting stricter I believe data driven investment strategies have great potential to keep increasing market share. Thus I am very excited to participate in the BigData Finance project and to work on developing tools for market mood identification that could be further used in constructing better investment products, risk measures and gain additional insights into the financial markets.
