Greece and more specifically the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is the place where I initially built my analytical and numerical skills. My BA in Mathematics and my work experience as a Maths Olympiad Coach helped me successfully complete an MSc in Financial Modelling and Optimization from the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. These studies, paired with my industrial exposure as an intern in the quantitative project “New Measures of Portfolio Diversification” at Standard Life Investments and later on as an Effective Interest Rate analyst at CitiGroup Investment Bank, were the stimulus to apply for a BigDataFinance programme.
The main reason that I applied for BigDataFinance is my belief that there is always room for improvement – this project will help me develop in the field where my passion lies. The dynamic environment of the Signal Processing Department at the Tampere University of Technology is ideal for investigating state-of-the-art machine and deep learning algorithms.
New robust pattern recognition and neural networks methods are the key areas of my research here, which motivated me to undertake this project. The fact that these fields of science have the potential to capture a new 2010 flash crash makes my academic endeavor even more interesting.
Alongside studying, I enjoy running, playing basketball, working out at the gym and playing piano. These activities keep me going with my routine and enable me to remain focused on my professional goals.
